Super Sam

It saddens me to write this post, although I feel that awareness is something that everyone needs more of....

Super Sam & HLHS

I know a man, he is a very sweet man with a wonderful wife. I walked down an aisle with him a few years ago to celebrate one of my favorite twins' wedding day. This man later got married and started a family of his own. As I am all too aware, sometimes things don't go as planned. It started well and then it came to a stop. Their little boy had a heart problem- it was not growing properly. Mom and dad were told about the requirement for surgery and all the risks involved.

After an early unexpected arrival, little Super Sam was just at the weight requirement for surgery. After several days, visitors, trips and doctors- Sams mother and father had to make the worst and most painful decision any parent could make. They had to decide what path to take. Sam was taken off all the monitors and shared one of the most beautiful days of the season with his parents and close family before leaving.

I cannot imagine what it is like to go through that. I had a friend that experienced loss in the form of a miscarriage and then still born, and I tear up just remembering being a bystander to the events.

So when you have a bad day, just remember that there are those that would trade anything in the world for the worst day if it meant that day could be spent with someone that was taken too soon.
