Hoo-Rah!

It is official- Uncle Travis has made it home!!!!

We picked him up at the airport a mere three days after he left Afghanistan. We are SO happy he is home and safe and couldn't be prouder about all he has done for his country.  It was beyond touching to see my two macho men (hubby and brother in law) tear up at the sight of one another after what seemed like a lifetime of praying after every newscast. The big surprise was that his mother had NO IDEA he was home- she thought he was coming home at the end of the year. None of us have any idea where she got her information from because all the emails we received from the Marine base clearly stated that he was enroute to the states- but we let her continue with her false delusions and bot was she surprised when he appeared at dinner.

Being a mom now, it is even more touching to see him home and to see how happy she is to have him. I can only hope that Caden gets some of the thoughtful genes from his uncle because daddy is a little low on supply ;)

Uncle T was so happy to meet Caden, too! He stayed with us for a few nights and he is just enamored by him. They sit and talk- it is about the sweetest thing ever and I cannot wait until baby #2 comes around so Uncle T can be around for all the other firsts he missed out on.

It is odd the things you take for granted. While he was there he had several days without water- horrible internet, he didn't drive anything other than a massive manual bus and had extreme temperatures! He is most regretful of all the events he missed at home- our wedding, his best friends wedding, babies, parties break-ups, new beginnings- the things that we take for granted or don't put a second thought into he missed.

My husband had a few surprises up his sleeve for him- including having the fire department post on their sign "Welcome home Cpl" and had two large color banners made- one for our house and one for his that welcomed him home- they brought tears to his eyes. Family is and always has been a very important part of my life, and even though T is a brother though marriage- I couldn't be prouder of him. He truly is my hero
